There are not many ways that we can help the Cambodian people.
In the past, the genocide was left out of education systems, but recently since 2012, many high school decided to educate the people about the atrocities that occurred. That's why when you visit the Toul Sleng prison, or the Killing Field, more and more Cambodian students are seen at the sites. Though this information needs to get to get to the world. By simply sending this website to your peers, or to share this website on social media, is to promote to others the atrocities that the Khmer Rouge is responsible for. We need to educate ourselves, and others about the mistakes that humans in the past have made and we need to advocate peace. Other than that you can also donate to research institutes like the Documentation Center of Cambodia and its Sleuk Rith research institutes. These institutes promote and preserve the evidence and documents. They are also the research institutes that help preserve and develop historical sites like S21 or the Killing Field. They also produce books and movies to educate people about the Khmer Rouge, along with being responsible for the audio tour program that you will hear if you visit these sites. These institutes aim to build a museum, and continue to enrich everyone's understanding about the Khmer Rouge. |
When completed, the Sleuk Rith Institute will be a haven for healing and restoration, an international education and research hub, a setting for all to enrich their understanding of Cambodian culture and history, and a force to prevent genocide worldwide. |
